Independent Recording Artist Raises Funds for Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles
Donates Proceeds of Album to Help Children.
Dateline: Los Angeles, California October 30th, 2024
Southern California based singer-songwriter Dave Lebental proudly delivered a check for $3,334 to Children’s Hospital yesterday. He was met by CHLA’s Theresa Webster who accepted the funds and thanked the musician for donating the proceeds from the sales of his independently released album, “The Long Player”. The 12-song package, released on Vinyl & CD in January 2024, has been sold at his shows in Los Angeles (The Whisky), Berkeley (Ashkenaz), San Juan Capistrano (The Coach House) and San Diego (Humphrey’s Backstage Live) as well as through his website dlmusic.us.
“Releasing an independent album of my songs and delivering this check has been a dream come true. I appreciate every person who picked up a copy and contributed to CHLA. Channeling my music to help children and families brings my life and music greater purpose and value.”
Lebental and his wife are long time Southern California residents who raised three children. When the youngest was 6 years old, he contracted osteo-myelitis after falling off his bike and injuring his leg. When the boy’s fever would not respond to antibiotics, his pediatrician had the child admitted to Children’s Hospital of LA. “The doctors, nurses and staff at Children’s Hospital saved our son’s leg and maybe his life. We were a young family with very little money at the time. I never forgot how scared we were and how much the care we received from Children’s Hospital meant to us. My independent album was the opportunity to pay it back and pay it forward.”.
Dave Lebental is a singer songwriter whose shifting styles include Rock, Blues, Americana, Singer Songwriter & Reggae. Lebental plays most of the instruments on his recordings which he engineers and produces in Los Angeles. He performs both solo and with his band The Driftwood Souls. Artistic references include Little Feat, Tom Petty, Lynard Skynyrd and The Beatles.
